Thoughts about the album:

Okay so I bought the EP when it was first released, but didn’t buy the album yet. I think this will be the very very rare band that I will buy a physical copy of their CD because I want their vibes in my house and I want to see the production credits for each song! This album has NO FILLERS. So far I streamed this album a million times so I can take in all the small details. How did four people write such a genius album?! Who wrote which lines? Well, take into consideration that each member has been in the business for a long time and had successful projects before. Oh and two members have their masters in music. Oh and on their website they did say that they got a boost from two other songwriters and they had two hot shot producers. Teamwork makes the dreamwork!

I am very happy for Katie especially. She is back up in major stardom on her own terms and in her own right! She looks more happy and in her element with Nice Horse. This band has regular appearances on TV, they opened for Tom Cochrane and their video is being played on CMT. As some of you know, she started out as the lead singer of a famous band, Jakalope that had a lot of big names like Trent Reznor collaborating on their tracks. After two successful albums, it was a major decision to walk away from a band with mainstream attention. She says it was to play music that was more true to her. While I believe that was part of the reason, I have a strong feeling there is a lot more to this story (there are hints in interviews, lyrics and social media posts). There are many demons in the music industry and it definitely is not a safe space for women. I won’t go into details about my speculations (I studied this band very carefully), but I will say that I’m glad Katie stayed strong and didn’t let anyone bring her down as she went on to release solo albums and now an album with her true alliances! It makes me happy to see a team of female musicians banding up and creating something so amazing!

This album has added to my inspiration in my own music.
